I only have a couple sec's to type this so sorry for typo's...

My computer is PORKED and will shut down in about 3 min...

Today the driveshaft fell OFF of my truck. I dno't know if I can but I will try to post pictures from my phone via FaceBook and maybe Doug can repost them here?

The yoke and U joins are fine - for some reason the NUT came off of the rear end input shaft! My rear end locked up , truck will NOT roll forward but will go backward.

I'll post more when I can from my Iphone or via Google TV

Yes I'm depressed, feel lower than whale crap!

No Job No Money - HOW DO I FIX THIS!??????

The pinion nut obviously came off allowing the yoke to come loose. Of course this messes up the clearance and can lock up the r/p. You may not be in too bad of shape if there is nothing broken and you can re-install a new nut and recover the torque specification. You need to get the cover off and see what the damage is. This would normally be the time to rebuild the rearend, but if you have no money then you might beable to clean up the bearings and just put everything back together. If you have damage then there is little that can be done other than rebuild the rearend. Good luck..

Edit: this seems to happen often after a pinion seal has been replaced. I feel it can be attributed to reusing the old pinion nut. I don't think the old nut necessarily needs to be thrown away but strongly feel Loktight needs to be used.

I made a few phone calls to Dodge and also a Rear End Specialist that was recommended to me by Big Art, Hemi4ever and ChFred.

The call to Dodge pissed me off, wanted $1600 to 1800 and that's if no gears are needed.. Rip Off!

The Specialists quoted me at approx $610 for Pinion Bearing and also ALL bearings and clutch pack - way to go since they do have approx 107k miles.

ALSO!

You may want to make a note of this and if you have not changed it do it - it could happen - The Pinion Nut that holds the driveshaft is NOT Cross Threaded. The specialists told me that Dodge has their heads up their *** about this. If ... IF !!!!!!!!!!!!! they had used this type of nut in the first place it would have NEVER fallen off!

Below are 3 linked pictures because the size is too large to post and I'm not sure if my comp will shut down at any time so I can't edit them

Image 3

I plan to go out later once the sun comes out and try to take a closeup of the Diff and Pinion Shaft and Bearing.
