Many good points for the 10/22. But it is very lacking in the self defense and security category as stated in article. And ammo is definitely cheaper. But imo, 1 gun simply can't do everything. So the more guns the better. But a 10/22 will certainly be better than nothing.

I have a 10/22 with a bull barrel and it's a great little gun. But not for home defense..INHO. I've seen guys hopped up on drugs that didn't flinch when hit with multiple 9mm rounds. "If" I had to have only one gun it would be a 12 ga. shotgun with 00 buck shot. If the sight of the barrel didn't make the bad guy run, one shot would end their threat. Not so with a .22 and your aim doesn't have to so exact.

I'm a big fan of the Ruger 10/22, along with a trusty 12ga slide gun.

I wouldn't want to be limited to 1 gun but it is pretty good for a lot of things.

Ya know, the 10/22 is a good gun with a certain purpose. I am destine to collect one some day regardless! As far as home defense...Ummm...No! I wouldn't want some stoked-up intruder to laugh himself to death if he dodged the first couple of shots.

Agreed. Not sure I'd start with 00 buck. Maybe get his attention with #6s, graduating to rifled slugs.

I don't want to have to pull the trigger twice. With 00 Buck he's going down, no questions and no law suits later.
