Add One More Desert Rat from the Zone to HTC
Howdy to all!
YouTube led me here.
A little about myself (This way everyone will understand how I came to buy a HT):
I am old. At least I feel "Old". Closing in on 56 to be exact. All my life, to date, I have lived in AZ. In other words a native. I have managed, as well, to tear up my body with age. Three bulging disk (controlled by acupuncture), a loss of hearing, etc., etc. and etc.. Getting "old" is so much fun. I am, shall we say, an old school gearhead as well. I enjoy the classic rides to the point of owning one and showing it on weekends. Unfortunately, the classic I own is not a Mopar...*Ahem*...Moving on.
How I came to own a HT:
Up till a couple of months ago, I used to own a 1997 Dodge Dakota. It was and still is a decent ride with the exception that it had a five speed attached to a six banger. Having owned the truck and jammin' gears with a bunch of SnowBird "Retirees" in front of you is no fun on the back and down the leg (Remember, I have bulging disks?). SO! It was time to replace my "almost daily driver". I say "almost", because it had 56,000 on the odometer. I work from home. I originally was looking for another "low mileage" Dakota 4x4 with an automatic and a 4.7. I needed to have a truck to tow my show car, when we are ready to move to Colorado, as well as the 4x4 for icy/snowy reasons. I found a few Dakotas that fit the price/mileage requirements. For some reason, after I test drove 'em, I just kept saying to myself there wasn't enough "ummmffph" to get and go. Especially, when it comes time to tow! So I happened upon a '08 Quad Cab with a HEMI on Craigs one day. Freshly listed with mileage and a price I just could not ignore. Called to inquire about it and to be sure it was still there. Woke the wife up from her needed afternoon nap and we were off! All I could say to her on the drive to look at it was "It has a HEMI" (Can you tell I am a "Gearhead"?). All she could say, when she first laid eyes on it, was the color matched her Vue. LOL! Women! Whoops! Sorry to our "Fairer Sex" out there. To continue, I did the usual routine by looking it over, kicking the tires, asking the questions, checking the background and driving IT. Now when it come to driving, I don't like to drive like a typical "Old Person". It's respect the vehicle by warming it up (say 3 to four miles) and kicking it in the backsides when the time is right. Especially, right when you need to have all those SnowBird "Retirees" behind you. The owner's father (the owner was at work) let me romped it once. I had to have it (I am "Spoiled")! I did the usual shameless counter offer and we agreed at 20,000.
A little about my HT:
I'll begin by saying "It has a HEMI" and is a 4x4. LOL! In respect, to my wife, it's Electric Blue "Pearl" with a chrome package. The previous owner had "Cherry Bomb" dual exhaust installed. 22,400 original miles. Otherwise, it's all stock and I hate to say it, but I will...With the exception of adding a cold air package from K&N, electric steps(?), and a tonneau cover in the future - keep it as is. The truck is the "Big Horn" edition. Power driver seat, power mirrors, power sliding rear window, sun/moon roof, read-outs overhead, tow package...The whole schumoly. I'll post pics later if I don't become too "lethargic" from lacking things to do (J/K'g).
The reason I Joined HTC:
First and foremost, I believe a slight change in venue might be in order. In other words, an association with other HT owners and especially local (and soon to be local - after we move) HT owners. It's good we are able to give each other a "Heads-Up" on issues and events. That's it in a "Nutshell".
