05 5.7L Hemi, no oil pressuer in cold on start up.

Hey guys, I just bought a used 05 Ram 1500 with 60,000 miles on it. I live in Ohio, and this past week (now under 30deg outside) it started having no oil pressuer on start up. If I shut the truck off and restart it the oil pressuer comes up like normal. I called the dealer and I am taking it in, but they didn't seem to belive me. You guys have any imput on this? Thanks!!!

I have only had the truck for 17 days so if it has the wrong oil the dealer put it in. No noise from the motor at all. I have been doing the start it turn it off and start again for the past 3 days. Not going to drive it untill it goes to the dealer on Monday. I have the balance of the power train war. so i hope this is coverd. ?? haha What oil should I run, and what do you guys run?

If there is no engine noise, most likely it's the Ga./sending unit.

Welcome...sounds like a sending unit to me. My fuel gauge did this to me a couple times. I had it dealer replace it and it never happened again.

As for oil I'm running Mobil one 10w -30. many people are running 5w-30 or 0w-30 weights. Royal purple and Amsoil are in most of the members trucks. good luck hopefully thats all it is.

if you have an MDS engine the wieghts may be diffrent.

Sounds to be just the gauge. Another member here had the same problem a few months back. I run Amsoil 0W-30 in my truck.
