 Here is my rally proposal:
Fort Worth, Texas!! Dates June 14-19 or June 21-26, 2020.
What can we do?
The Fort Worth Stockyards are part of the National Historic District. Along with twice daily cattle drives, you can also enjoy stores, restaurants, and Billy Bob's Texas.
We also have Sundance Square name after The Sundance Kid where you can find theaters, dining, art galleries, museums and nightlife.
Museums, museums, museums!! We can even go the Bureau of Engraving and Printing Western Currency Facility.....there is a gift shop but I don't think they give out samples...…..
There is also the Fort Worth Botanic Gardens, Japanese Garden, and the Fort Worth Zoo. A hop, skip, and a jump away is Six Flags Over Texas and Hurricane Harbor.
We can check out Texas Motor Speedway, there isn't anything available to attend on their calendar at this time but I sent them an email to scope out our options. Also, 1 1/2 to 2 hours down the road is "Magnolia Market" founded to Chip & Joanna Gaines from HGTV.
We can take the "Cowboys & Culture" Bus Tour for and 1 1/2 tour around town. Panther Island has lots to do including a Drive-In Movie!!! Talk bout nostalgia!! The movies showing for June aren't available yet but I joined their newsletter today to be on top of that option.
Molly the Trolley is the free downtown shuttle to help our tired bones. There is so much to do, free/cheap/or admission fees, but these are just some of the top highlights.
There are 146 hotels to choose from. I'm still working on this but the ones I spoke with this morning gave me the following prices (Michelle, I only called the ones with an outdoor pool):
1) Best Western Fort Worth Inn & Suites , 201 W. Loop 820 N., Fort Worth, Texas
Breakfast, microwave & fridge
Queen or King rooms: $505.95 for the week
2) LaQuinta Inn & Suites by Wyndam, Fort Worth City View, 4900 Bryant Irvin Rd., Fort Worth, Texas
Breakfast, fridge, microwave
Double room: $89 per night, $522 for the week
King room: $99 per night, $580 for the week
3) Comfort Suites North Fossil Creek, 3751 Tanacross Dr., Fort Worth, Texas
Breakfast, microwave, fridge
Suites with King or 2 Queens: $120 per night
This one is a bit more in cost but they have a shuttle that runs within a five mile radius M-F (sorry, I forgot to write down the hours) and the lady said "we're in the middle of everything". Most the other hotels were about 10 miles out from Sundance Square or the Stockyards.
I'll be happy to check out any other hotels anyone suggests. If Fort Worth is selected I'm going to try and drive down there in the next few weeks to really look at them, see where they are located, and all that other stuff we care about.
