I was surfing one of the ram forums, and came across a few ppl who say that they have had success starting theie trucks in 2nd gear...is that possible, or BS?

They may be refering to having the selector in 2nd gear position?

No matter which forward gear selection you pick, the trans will start out in first gear!

Possible but not so good.
I did it once on juice.
Basically the trans went into limp mode either coming out of the burnout or at launch.
Oddly enough IIRC I ran a 1.72 60' vs the high 1.6's I'd been running that night. no traction issues in 2nd and nitrous pulled hard at that low of rpm. but... since it was in limp mode it wouldn't shift to 3rd either and i had to coast the remainder of the track.
turned out to be a loose connexion on the line pressure sensor, fixed that and it was all good.
