1/8th tank of gas or less, remove tailgate & spare tire, turn off A/C or defrost, and floor it on the last yellow light

Good luck and have fun! Let us know how you did.

FYI... gas weighs about 6 pounds per gallon... 34 gallons of gas (full tank) is an extra 200 pounds you're hauling down the track.

A good way to look at it is for every 100 pounds you can shed, gives you the equivalent of gaining 10 hp!

Must be why I did so horrible, I had 3/4 tank, never dropped the spare or took the tailgate off, and the track was horrible tonight. 60 ft= 2.465, speed 87.04, r/t .212, 1/4 16.119! Soo with all that against me I gained a whole second to what I ran a few months ago at 15.102. I don't feel like this is what I should be runnin but it is. Time for the headers and a camswap. It was a fun night though! Me and my buddy with his gto were the first two to show up and we beat mostly everyone time wise, in el paso there's lots of ricers and they wouldn't race any of the v8s! I was at least the quickest truck out there between a couple Chevys and a ford with no problem at all! Wish there had been some titans and tundras tho. I was not happy with my 15 runs I did but it was fun so o well, I guess I just gotta keep workin on it now

The jack doesn't weigh a lot, but remove it too. Any weight you take out will help some. I removed my factory battery and replaced it with a lighter weight one. That removed 8-10 pounds off the front of my truck. Since I never carry my spare I also removed the spare winch. Also having the washer fluid tank nearly empty helps a little. All the little things add up.
