392 gears

So, from what I am reading I can effectively change my final gear ratio by going to a smaller diameter wheel/tire combo, this may be possibly a better answer than changing gears to a 456 ratio. If I do change to a 17" wheel, any ideas on what my final drive would end up? My truck: 2003 Ram Hemi, short wheel base, 2wd, stock 20" wheels.

Final drive will stay the same just run a factory size on the 17" wheel only when you change sizes will anything change.

Yup like Keith said, if you have the same diameter tire on a 17" rim as you do on a20" you change nothing for final ratio

Yes, I understand the final ratio would not change, but for overall 'get up and go', this would be a good idea?

OK, so you'd need a 27" tire to make your 3.92s feel like 4.56s

31.5/27=1.1667

3.92x1.1667=4.5734
