Curiosity

I have had an idea running thru my brain for a while. My neighbor has an 80's dodge truck sitting in his yard rusting away. It is a 4x4 and is still in good shape. Then the thought came to mind. What would it take to pull the cab, front end, and bed off and mount it to a hemi truck chassis? like take an 03 up ram and swap out the bodies! I find totaled rams a lot! this is just me thinking. Not a project I could even think of doing right now I was just thinking this would be a cool project! Seeing like a 87 dodge truck with a 03 up chassis!!!But then after such a project would it be titled as the chassis or the year of the body!LOL Just thinking!

If you can weld (and have a bit of cash) there is no limit as to what you can do :-)

It would be work for sure but with a lot of time and some cash it can be done. It would be registered as 2006 I believe whatever year frame is or as custom depending on your DMV.

The frame has a 727 But it is a 4x4. I was thinking that if one was to put a 1987 Body on a 03 frame using the 727 and megasquirt that would be a fun truck!!! I saw on a show where a couple of guys put a 68 truck body on a 96 frame with a Cummings!!!!! That was one cool truck! The show didn't go into a great amount of detail but it was a cool build! I just thought a hemi truck frame with a classic body would be fun!

I would love to have a 1978 Midnight Express or the Lil' Red Express done up in current resto-mod fashion with a modern built 426 Hemi .

It's my plan also, old body on a modern truck chassis. Unfortunately I haven't really found a good looking older mopar truck. Will have to put a ford or chevy body on it !!
