Cost to replace front U-joints

Anyone got clue?
Not on our trucks.
Our daughter has a 95 1500/SLT.

The last guy she talked to told her 1200 bucks at the lowest end....could run more.

I got no clue if he's jerkin her chain...or if that's what it's gonna cost. She's tapped the "1'ST National Bank of Dad" for a loan to get it done.

Had to have one replaced on my truck...but it was wrnty work...so I have no idea what it cost.

That does seem high, can you get a list of what he is replacing? A good mechanic shold only nend 1.5 to 2.5 hours to do it. That is for the ones behind the wheels. My friend did a set on one while I was putting in my cam.

She said it was “ALL” going to have to be replaced……whatever “all” entails on front u-joints.

Prob is…the truck only blue books at best….. 2,000.

It’s got over 250,000 miles on it….and it is nickel and diming her to death.

And add to that…she’s in Scottsdale, AZ…..so the Prez of 1st National B.O.D….. can’t just jump in the truck with her and be there when the mechanic looks it over.

Seems to me…the better deal would be to get out from under the money pit…and let Dad drop that 1200 on a down payment for something that isn’t going to keep her broke or leave her stranded.

BUT..she is as attached to her RAM..as I am to ours…LOL

'Bout the only way Dad’s gonna talk her outta getting rid of this one…is to promise her he’ll help her get another RAM…….and of course she’ll want the “HEMI upgrade”…..

Like Rick said Tory, depends on whats being replaced.

If the job includes all the bearings and seals,u-joints ect it can approach that in cost.

The 2nd gen Rams were known for track bar bushing problems also.

Get a written estimate and ask for the old parts for inspection.

Thanks for the help guys…
The more we (Dad and me) think about this..the more we think she just needs to unload the darn truck.
It’s at the point..it’s turning into a “money pit”.

She'll already put several hundred bucks into it.....

I figure soon as this gets fixed….it’ll need something else fixed..and the stuff that needs fixed…is gonna be the high$$ stuff.
I’d rather see John put the “loan” (HA! LOAN MY AUNT FANNY) into something newer for her.
It’s gonna be a fight tho…I can see it now…LOL
