Coal burner coming to the stable

Hi All,
I am getting a 2003 2500 Cummins turbo
The Coal Train will be coming home on 6-4-16. Researching all the things I will need to do to get this beastie huffing like the giant it is.

injectors need service and steering box and right steering link-tie rod need replacing. From there it is getting it back into super shape. Body is pretty much rucst free and does need a couple of things but at 180K on the clock this truck has a ton of life left in it.
Will post pics when it gets home.

Have a great day,
preachp

Hi Redtruck,

Thanks, looking forward to getting to work on it and getting it right. Heard a lot of great things about the 5.9-24V. This is an HD so it ought to be a heck of working truck.
Have a great day,

I believe I read the 03 made more HP/TQ then the newer ones. It was eating transmissions and the engineers decide it was cheaper to turn down the engine instead of beefing up the trans... go figure. Mine doesn't smoke unless I lean on it and then it'll roll coal. Can't do that much until I install a new clutch...

The 2003 if it was an HO and not an SO made 305 Hp and around 450-550 torque. The 2012 I have has 350/800 stock it is the HO version the 6.7 with a manual trans only has 650 torque but same HP. None the less the trucks pull like champs and make very nice support vehicles

Hi Charged,

I think HO but I can't say for sure until I get it home and do VIN search.
Have a great day,
