2006 Durango electrical issues

Hi all, It's been awhile since i have posted. As always its little long but here goes,
Well the ol'durango has been running great for the last 2 years but now a new and more menacing issue has occurred. The other day after picking it up from it state inspection it stalled, it never stalls. we are at a light and it stopped with no warning, all the lights came on but it restarted right up. it stalled again as i was pulling into the drive way. Same thing no real warning stalled all lights come on re-start. I seen no indictions of and issue other than i noticed a slight flicker in the dash lights right before this happened, but it re-started. i did the cable check and the internet search for these issue and came up with a PCM going bad, lose connections, ignition switch issues. We have had an occasional issue with the starter not releasing when starting it. So i ordered a switch and removed and cleaned most of the connections i can get to easily. so once i was done tightening and cleaning the connections including the fuse box one. i needed to start it up to close the windows in case rain. well this is when my problems started and got worst. first it would not start at all, it would not even power up the accys. I cleared all codes and it started but no gauges. then it would start and run about 5 seconds and stop. i cleared codes again and i can start it but no gauges and if i turned it off and tried again nothing, completely acting dead. clear codes and it restarts. So some how i think i messed up the security system so how do i recover from that? I'm replacing the switch now and need to just walk away for awhile. i hate electrical issues. Can anyone help?

thanks

My gut tells me it's ground issue. I focus on that along with a new battery. Hemi's are fussy about batteries. Did the clowns at the inspect station touch anything under the hood?

Hey, thanks for replying i have looked at the grounds and they seem to be good the battery is not that old and voltage is just about 13 volts especially with all the start and stops and code reader time on it. I read something about skim codes which makes some sense to me. it starts runs and dies so from the reading i have done the truck thinks someone is trying to steal it. the down side is from what i have read i need the dealer type scan tools to fix this.....it just never ends.

Sounds kinda like some of the issues early jeep commanders can be plagued with.
I had mine reflashed to fix a couple open tsb.s by my local doge dealer, that seamed to fix the stalling issue.
Also went through and replaced sensors, wire harness...
So many electrical things that want/need to communicate or they tho codes.
It has been a pita trying to chase down the critical stuff [ie;stalling] vs time to replace tire inflation warning system" or " rear view back up camera need service"
To much electrical stuff....Im thinking the durango may be a similar beast ey?

thats part of the problem i get inconsitant codes each time. i have had trans, hv a/c starring angle and pcm codes. i clear them and can get it to start but no gauge cluster readings, or it may start and run for 5 seconds. So right now i ordered the right ignition switch so it is on hold until i get that. once i get that in i will write down any codes that pop. i guess the good thing about this is that since i keep pulling my hair out over this i have less gray showing.....

If the pcm doesn't sense engine rpm it opens the ASD relay after 5 or so seconds. Maybe go to the gas tank and listen to the pump run when the key is first turned on just to see if that is working normal.

Me ,not being very tec savy, automotive ability or much patience opted to have factory tec's @ my local dealership sift threw the stuff after playing guessing games with a olde time wrench turning garr-age.
I wasnt given the paper work, but got to see the computer/pad they[tec's] work off...My commander had a long list of code/messages that wernt "talking " to each other..Some affected the running of the jeep but most didnt.
My commander has an electronic messenger center that seams to be tied in with the diagnostic error codes.
So i see messages[sometimes] that the tec see's as codes?

Long winded way to say..With serious electrical diagnostic, maybe its time to talk with a trained tec who job it is to know...my humble 2c...Stuff drives me nuts

This could be anything. A module could be taking down the comm/bus line and kill the truck. Nathan’s truck “rolling thunder” had a bad airbag module and the truck would start stall or sometimes crank and no start. This may take a good scanner maybe even a scope. First thing I would do is get a shop to scan it and see if every single module will communicate with scanner of one won’t them unplug it and see if the truck will start up.
