Power Steering Rack not covered in extended warranty, any recalls or TSB's?

7/16/14-

We opted for the Assured Service extended warranty with Lithia Chrysler Jeep after our Chrysler Extended Warranty ended. Yes, many donít believe in these, but the entire fuel system dumped under the Chrysler Extended Warranty. That was covered, the 200 mile and return tow, and a week of car rental.

Now, the water pump is leaking slightly, along with the Power Steering Rack. Assured Service will cover the water pump, 3 day car rental, BUT, not the Power Steering Rack.

2005 Dodge Ram Quad Cab Short Bed Hemi 4x4. The truck has 107,000 miles on it.

Any Recalls on this, or TSBís???

No real known issues with the ram racks that I know of. There is a revised bleeding procedure but no tsb/recalls.

I would look closely at the power steering hydraulic hose fitting as they often leak. The fix is to just put a hose clamp behind the factory fitting.

had mine safety inspected and they failed it for steering rack leak. I told them it was a hose clamp problem with the dodge rams and they said no its a rack leak and it fails. est. for repair from them 500 took it home and cleaned it all of and replaced the clamp had it inspected someplace else.

two weeks later Missouri stated hwy. patrol came to my house to see me.
they wanted to know why I had the truck inspected two times in 24 hrs. at two different places. all is good now. took a little explaining

I would clean it all off and drive it for a few days and see where it leaking.

I find that a disturbing story, first the shop in my estimate is either trying to rip you off and/or incompetent. Second, having the State Troopers with nothing better to do than to follow up on people's inspections. No crime in your area? Troopers generally make excellent money, to squander that resource offends me.

Try this link below. It may be just the hydraulic line.

If this is your problem then it is a MUCH BETTER fix than the factory stealership rip-off suggestions!

Reason #1,364 to skip the extended warranty.
