New g-tech numbers and airaid mit

Well, I mentioned in my signature that
I would have new G-Tech numbers since
I installed the Airaid MIT intake. First
lets review. Before the MIT I ran a best
of 15.11 @ 89.2 mph. It was 68deg and the
humidity was 40%. I had 1/4 tank gas at
the time. Best 0-60mph time was 6.75 seconds.
Now today.Weather was cooler at 55deg
and the humidity was at 60%. Had 1/2 tank
gas for these tests. Ran three times and
here are the results.

RUN #1--- 0-60 mph 6.52 seconds
60' 2.23 seconds
1/8 mile 9.59 @ 75.88 mph
1/4 mile 14.91 @ 90.80 mph

RUN #2--- 0-60 mph 6.48 seconds
60' 2.21 seconds
1/8 mile 9.55 @ 75.84 mph
1/4 mile 14.91 @ 90.13 mph

RUN #3--- 0-60 mph 6.56
60' 2.23 seconds
1/8 mile 9.60 @ 75.47 mph
1/4 mile 14.96 @ 90.05 mph

I was quite amazed at the increase the
MIT tube gave. Sure, it was a little
cooler for these tests but the humidity
was higher. I think much of the cooler
temp effects were off set by the extra
40lbs of fuel my truck had in it's belly.
Here are the old and new averages.

OLD--- 15.13 @ 89.05 mph

NEW--- 14.93 @ 90.33 mph

A 2/10ths second drop and a 1.28 mph
increase in the quarter is quite
awesome for just a plastic tube addition.
My next project will be to apply a
insulative wrap around my MIT intake.

LOL... I probably would have still
sold it because of the noise. This
MIT is barely louder than stock.
Once I insulate wrap the tube it will
be even quieter and the entering air
will be cooler. Just need suggestions
what to use for a wrap. Anyone????
After looking at my times and factoring
in the cooler temps I would say the MIT
was worth an easy .12 to .15 reduction in
my 1/4 mile times. I think their was
someone else in HTC.com that had G Tech
times for the MIT showing the same thing.

Thanks for the info and welcome to
the site! What ever I use it has
to survive under the hood for a
long time.

I recall seeing CAI tube wrap for just this purpose in the last Jegs catalog I got.

Think you could order it in different colors too.

I don't understand the PCM's on the Hemi.
I lost MIT tube gains after 200 miles
or so. It has been about 200 miles since I
installed a True-Flow drop in filter. I
did four Gtech runs today. Temp was 47deg
and the humidty was 77%

1. 0-60-6.42 1/4mile [email protected]
2. 0-60-6.39 1/4 " [email protected]
3. 0-60-6.64 1/4 " [email protected]
4. 0-60-6.41 1/4 " [email protected]

Run #3 was the only run where I had
tire spin off the line. I can't figure
these trucks out. Maybe the Hemi likes
a little more air restriction for
optimum fuel/air balance. Beats the hell
out of me! Got to love those new times
though.
