Hi all, I just wanted to post that the other day my exhaust starded to get a little "tickier" than usual. upon farther investigation I found two broken studs on the passenger side rear most cylinder. The truck is about 6 years old (2005) and has about 53k miles on it. The dealer said it's under warranty so to the dealer she goes.. Today he called me and told me one of the studs wouldnt come out so he said it's getting a new head... I'm just concerned about weather or not the new head will have new internals or weather they will have to swap everything over. My other concern is how the engine will like having one new head ond one old one for the long term... Any input anyone would have would be apreciated.

I would bet they screwed up the head trying to get the stud out, and now have to replace it!

Better them than me! I just hope swapping out only one head doesn't cause any issues down the line.

Well as an update the truck is back and running as good as before with the one new head on it. The whole thing cost me $106 for a new head exhaust manifold gaskets, studs, and heat shield. They even replaced the manifold studs on the drivers side where there were no broken studs. I'd have to say I am happy with the turnout and I will update this thread if down the line something else comes up.

Wow. Iv got an 04 and I had the same problem. But mine was not under warranty so I had to do them myself. It took about 5 hours all said and done because I had to extract the right back to studs. It was difficult because one was cone shaped from the way it broke off... But I was able to fix it. Just be glad yours was under warranty. I ended up replacing all the studs and manifold gaskets while I was at it.
