Wooooooooo from rear end, goes away with foot off gas.

This happens or is most noticeable from 60-70 mph. Sounds real similar to a turbo sound. My Dakota made this exact same noise 4.7/3.92 with about 45k on it when I traded for this truck. This also has 3.92 gears (anti-spin) and 4x4.

Is it anything to worry about? My parking brake pads are gone, so it looks like I might have to pull the axles out a little anyway. If this noise is anything I can get rid of by adjustment or fluid change, I'll just do it all at once. Thanks!

That's a sign of gear wear on the drive side of the set usually not anyway to get rid of the noise

The axles stay in when changing the parking shoes no need to pull out to change

I couldn't see any way to change the shoes with the axles in place. The axle flange is so close, I can't even tell the basic shape of the shoes to order new ones! But the noise being normal wear is encouraging to hear. Thanks!

Not normal wear, just wear. If it get louder (and it will) you be wanting to get inside to see if it is gears or bearings.

Sounds as though you are having a bearing going away, and it is likely its the main pin bearing, but it could be a carrier bearing also.

If the parking brake is shot it could also be contributing to the noise.

I don't know, my '01 Dakota with 3.92s had the exact same sound. I think it only does it under load. Take foot off the gas, it disappears, if memory serves. Usually doesn't.
