What type of gear oil w/Auburn LSD

I just ordered a Auburn LSD and know they dont reccommend using synthetic oil with it. So you guys who have the Auburn unit what gear oil are you using and how often are you changing it.

Jay said he packs his rear end with lanolin. Does that help?

If you can't find lanolin in the correct grade try Valvoline 90W140 severe gear oil. You will still have to put the additive in. Got everything at Advance Auto.

I'm running Lucas non synthetic oil with my Auburn carrier. The LSD unit should come with the correct friction modifier, so you should just need to buy some rear end dope. I'd imagine you should be able to go at least 30k between changes.

Does anyone know why (I'm know you do!) they don't reccomend synthetic with the Auburn? I know you have to break in new gears with petro, but after that, why would it harm the LSD to put, oh, I dunno, Amsoil in it? Keeping things cool and well lubed seems like a no brainer to me, so I'm curious as to their reccomendation...

I'm guessing the synthetic would be too "slick" Since the Auburn is a clutch type LSD, the clutches probaly wouldn't hold anything with synthetic oil That's my best guess.
