I gotta get this done-

First change, is it worth the full fluid change or is the service change good enough?

Is it worth almost $5 a quart more for Amsoil ATF, considering any ATF+4 is synthetic?

What are the best filters to use?

Anyone add the B&M drain plug?

Thanks, guys.

I am going to use AMSOIL over the AFT+4 just for the fact that ATF+4 is like reg fluid instead of the syn that it should be!

I'm going to go with Royal Purple. I've already switched everything else in the truck over to RP, just have to get around to doing the trans now.

I was told that all ATF+4 is synthetic.

I couldn't see doing just the service change and only doing half the fluid if I went to Amsoil, and I couldn't swing $200 for the fluid alone right now.

I opted for a case of NAPA fluid ($68), a WIX filter set, and B&M drain plug. Hope to get it done this weekend.

Anyone that's done this job, did you use the gasket, or just the RTV? The manual doesn't mention a gasket, just MOPAR RTV.

I'm pobably going to do mine this weekend. I'm gonna use the gasket that came with my filter. Going to just change what's in the pan now and then again when I order a Mag Hytec pan later on.

I changed my mind and went with rtv. No leaks as of yet anyway lol. Added 6 quarts of Royal Purple, might be a tad low so I'm gonna grab another quart when I go to town.

Yup, used new Permatex RTV for tranny fluid. There was no gasket there from the factory, so you must not need it!

Also picked up a tube of Permatex RTV for gear oil (next project).
