rear end clicking 2003 ram 1500

When shifting from park to drive I hear a click sound and the same while driving. Changed the rear diff oil today and found two chunks of metal in the rear diff. Now it still makes the clicking noise what could have broken too cause this ?

don't remember a clicking noise, but a slight humm at highway speeds.
but like you I popped the rear cover off and found extra parts.
I was informed they were from the locker.
so $800.00 and a day later I was back on the road with all new guts...
good luck.

Most likely broken clutch clips, happens occasionally with the OEM limited slip differential. Many folks will upgrade the differential rather than repairing the OEM differential.

I would also ck your u-joints. I had a clunk sound and a squeak noise backing up was a bad rear joint
