nvh 3500 Need Help!

Hey guys quick question I've got a 2003 dodge ram 1500 with a 4.7 motor and nvh 3500 transmission, 5 speed manual. I wanna drop 5.7 in it but not sure if the 5.7 will bolt right up to my tranny. Does any one have any info for this set up ?

Should bolt up they run it behind the 2500 5.7 hemi's I'm sure there's something that will need to be bought or changed a little bit.

Hi 5.7hemiman,

I would think you just need a bell housing that fits the tranny and the 5.7. I can't see Chrysler spending the money on tooling to have hemi's having different bolt patterns on the block when it is much cheaper and easier to use a universal pattern on the block and change the pattern on the other side of the bell housing to fit the various trannies.

Bell housing should be the same the 545 is bolted to 4.7/5.7 both so manual trans will likely bolt right up. The clutch and flywheel will
Likely be diff

I can't think of any reason that the engine and transmission wouldn't physically bolt right together without any problems. The internal mating shouldn't be too tough either but I don't think Chrysler ever built a hemi mated with the nv3500, could be wrong though. The 2500 rams had the nv4500, nv5600, and G56 manuals in that order by years(unsure of exact splits). I think the nv3500 was strictly 4.7L and the 545 auto came with either engine in 1500 Rams. If the clutch from your truck will bolt on to a 5.7L flywheel you are golden. Worst that happens to get it done you have the flywheel drilled and tapped to accept the clutch plate. Most machine shops can handle that. Good luck and keep us posted!

they should still bolt together though and if you leave the hemi stock it should be alright. I wouldn't go too power crazy without also upgrading to th,e nv4500 too.
