What trans are you using? I still keep Going back to a t-56. Idc about track consistency as I do about just being able to bang gears in this thing an just the fun factor, of corse once it's parked in the garage for days off lol

I'm going with the A833, I looked in to the T56 as a swap and I think the T56 or the TKOs would be an easier swap, then the A833 The T5 with some internal mods can be a good alternative(Pro-Force Performance in Atlanta builds a strong T5) I've been searching around on some of the junk yard search sites and there are a few of the TR6060s popping up

You're going with an old school 4 speed?

The a833 is an interesting choice. Great first gear, wide 2nd along with a 1:1 3rd, 4th being a OD. IMO, a very robust manual transmission making it a good replacement for the 545. The obvious downside is its not a race trans with the wide gear spacing. Excellent choice for a street ride.

The A833od box is a good stout box, has some higher HP issues, the way main shaft is undercut for 3rd gear weakens it and 3-4 synchronizer area, can be an issue the countershaft in the stock case is a full floater and has a tendency to hammer out the case when abused HARD and then you get mesh issues between the main and countershaft, for a daily driver 450-500 hp the OD box will live as long as it’s treated right.
For this 03 project, I’m going with an all-aluminum A833, 23 spline slick shift 2.66 low gear box. I don’t see the need to go 18 spline yet and I don’t have a need for an OD box in this truck.
