LSD Clips wore into cap/Housing and True trac and Auburn ?

My Caps, and housing look like this, Post # 419 and #422 , all of the diff shops I spoke with said that it should be fine to run like this what do you think?

http://www.dodgetalk.com/forums/show...&pp=40&page=11

( These are not my pic's but look just like mine.)

I ordered a Richmond master rebuild kit and a Detroit True Trac Diff to replace everything, Ring and Pinion look fine.

Any am worried about the housing and cap staying together.

Any tips on set up or better yet do you have a guide?

Thank you so much.

P.S I have a 3.92 ratio. Thank you for the info, Now if I can figure out how to print just the Rear axle rebuild part of the manual.

Welcome to the forum. I haven't had this happen, but while talking with a Chrysler mechanic who specialized in doing differentials told me when these came in the official response is the housing needs to be replaced. However he added often he would use salvage yard caps and it was a good repair. The caps are suppose to be fitted individually to each axle. But production is so close often the will fit without issue. As for the DTT I have used one for a few years and it continues to run without issues. Good luck..

If it was me, I would purchase a complete open carrier differential from another truck, then rebuild it with the new parts, including a motion 4:56 gear set.

Like I said, officially not recommended, but has been done.

If the main diff housing only has minor nicks then reuse it. As for the housing cor the ring gear change it all out to the true Trac and be done with it. Have fun mine for years issue free so far

ABSOLUTELY

Don't waste your time with crap - go directly to the Detroit Tru-Trac and Motive 4:56 gears and be done with it forever .
