gears and 4x4 question

has anybody made or found a DIY guide for regearing a 2004 dodge ram 1500 5.7 4x4? i've done a decent amount of work myself. but to do a regear myself i'd hate to go in blind. lol

next question. it's 4x4. what issues would arise if i only swapped the rear gears? i know some mudders use 4.10's in the front and 4.56's in the back, and i'd be 3.92 in front and 4.56 in rear.

thanks for any and all replies

Download the 04 Service Manual and it has a pretty good break down. Study it a bit and if you have any specific questions there plenty on here to answer your question. You need to do both axles or you will bust up your drive train.

Do same gears front and rear. If for some reason the t case shifts on its own on road your done for. The rear is fairly easy to do. Study a manual.
