Freaking out

So I dropped my '14 1500 44 using mcgaughys 2-4 kit yesterday (I've had the kit for almost a year) to find out today they have had problems with premature failing C/V axles? Has anyone had this issue? Is there a fix?

With a 2-4" kit the axles are failing? How excatly are the boots getting torn or they breaking somehow

Mcgaughys didn't specifically say what part (s) have failed. There doesn't appear to be a angle issue that I can see. Especially if you take into consideration all the guys running lift kits....

Then it really makes no sense to me that there would be an issue.

That's what I'm saying. 2" is within normal suspension travel

maybe those things need a bit of an angle to keep from vibrating. Kind of like when your driveline angles are wrong and the driveshaft wants to vibrate ?

Or, they could now be a bit too long and binding up

They are angled and cv joints aren't prone to vibration like u-joints. Binding shouldn't be an issue due to the inner being tripod joints.

Mcgaughys just emailed back and said that it was an isolated event but to prevent future problems have since discontinued the kit for 44s. That sounds a bit fishy to me to discontinue a product after a single failure.....

it was likely that owner took the issue to extreme with them. I woudnt worry about it if I were you. if it was that big an issue safety wise I would have thought they would offer a refund or something. its likely they just don't want a repeat of whatever went down with said customer.

Good point didn't think about that. Could have had damage from outside influence too like an accident or something.
