found in rear diff

I was doing a oil change on the rear diff on my 09 ram 1500 and found some flat groved pieces in the bottom of the diff. Not sure if there part of the clutch pack or something else. Can't see where they came from but see no other damage except small dings in the cover. Any ideas?
I'd post some pics but can't get it to work.

Mopars limited slip unit is known for coming apart. You are lucky to catch it before the broken clips took out the gears, and bearings. You will need to replace the clutch pack. If it was me, I would replace it with a Truetrac from Eaton.

Thanks, the only parts I found were the parts I'm pretty sure are clutch plates. Didn't see any retainers but maybe they were ground up.

The retainer clips are too large to be ground up and not destroy the gears. Sounds like pieces of the clutch pack itself.

I didn't know the clutch pack could just come apart without something else coming apart first? What causes the pack to dissinagrate? Man, I baby this thing.

They do fail, apparently. There is wear and stress, of course. Now that the ice age is over , I'll be opening mine up before summer (I hope). It's due for a fluid change. I'm hoping it looks just like it did last time.

A fluid change (DIY) is probably $75 plus the additive. Yours should be on its 3rd change at least. I put a PML cover on mine at the last change. A DTT might run about $600 installed (I think). I'm at 127K, BTW.
