What are you guys using? I can build one but if there is one available off the shelf, I'd be interested.

...there are not a lot of guys using them from what I've read in prior posts.....I think the NHRA requires them when only you run slicks....I guess it depends on your track if they check or not....I think it is a good idea whether you have slicks or not,for safety reasons....

NHRA requires a DOT, SNELL or SFI helmet for any car quicker than 14.00. There are a number of different specs so you should check with your local tech inspector.

For cars that run e.t.s between 12.00 and 13.99, all of the above requirements apply along with the addition of a driveshaft loop. A new-for-95 rule exempts cars running 13.00 and slower when equipped with street tires. Since traction is the key to going quick, this places more strain on the driveshaft. To prevent the driveshaft from breaking at the front U-joint area and perhaps coming into the interior of the car, or digging into the track and pole-vaulting the car, NHRA mandates that a steel loop be placed just behind the front U-joint of the driveshaft. A universal driveshaft loop is available from Lakewood that bolts to the floorpan. A rollbar is required in this e.t. bracket only if the car is a convertible

This info might be outdated. Always check the current rules.

NHRDA rules are slightly different regarding driveline loops.

Sacramento and Infineon seem to be okay... they probably just figure we all have street trucks and we don't go that fast.... especially Fred.

It is a nice safety feature just in case.

Fred, thanks that was what I had in mind, but flipped and bolted to the floor. The Tech Insp said I don't see a hoop and I told there wasn't one. He asked how fast and I said I was hopeing for a 13.5. He said ok this time but next time I'd need one. Hell, I guess I could just put the DR's on after going through Tech and not worry about it. lol

Edit: Actually I thought the Tech Insp was concerned with the DR's more than the time/speed. I guess it wouldn't hurt to have one.

Sorry, a disappointing [email protected]

I'm sure she'll go 13.5 when I get a little more seat time.
