cylinder 3 dead

Hi new to the group here, trying to diagnose a misfire on a 2007 ram 2500 hemi, cylinder 3 is completely dead but makes excellent compression, around 170 psi same as cylinder 1 and 2 which both function fine, only code is p303 which is cylinder 3 misfire, changed coils around and the miss remains on number 3, I checked the plug for both the ignition coil and injectors on cylinder 1 and three to compare what frequency they were getting and they were nearly identical. I changed all 16 plugs and they looked identical and the number 3cylinder plugs were not wet with fuel so I'm thinking it's a bad injector and not a valve train issue since there is no loss in compression In that cylinder, any advice on this to further aid in pinpointing this problem before I replace the suspected injector would be greatly appreciated, thank you for the add and any help on the subject.

Looks like you have narrowed it down pretty good. Next would be to switch the injector with another cylinder. Good luck..

Yep move the injector see if it follows if it doesn't it's the valve train.

double checking injector

that is the plan, would a failed or stuck lifter on the intake side cause a dead skip with no loss of compression? I would think due to the lack of air movement it would cause lower pressure than normal. once I take off the fuel rail from the injectors are there O-rings that I need to replace, and if so can I get them at a local parts store or do I need to go to Chrysler for them, and aside from the disconnect tool for the hard line into the fuel rail are there any other special tools I need to disassemble or reassemble anything if im just disassembling enough to remove an injector or two. Also ill be stethescoping the suspected injector to listen for the solenoid before I pull an injector

The disconnect tool can be bought for around ten dollars at the local parts store. It's been some time since I had stock fittings and all, but if there is some crud around the injector area. I'd use air to blow it clear and brake cleaner. I'm hesitant to suggest brake cleaner as it is highly flammable, but does work if careful. I was careless and caught my riding mower on fire. It only took a few seconds to burn up all the wiring. So maybe engine foam or something like it would be better. As for the injector rubber orings. I've been lucky taking the injectors out and installing them without issue. I use trans fluid to lubricate the orings for install. Sounds like you are familiar working around the engine and should have no problems. Good luck.

Yes compression will be normal most times jut had a mustang doing same deal at work. Check injector with an ohm meter and see what you get before moving is one way. Sound works sometimes but 95% of the time it will sound the same and be clogged still. If ohm is good just swap with nearest hole. Oring should be fine for reuse little grease or trans fluid and your good to go back in.
