converter lockup related to mds?

just wondering if MDS and the converter lockup are related in any way? the reason i ask is a good friend of mine uses his 04 Cummins for sled pulling and he can electronically lock his converter. this seems simple enough to do so i was wondering if i manually lock my converter will it help keep the MDS on through hills and head winds?

converter lockup related to mds?

from what i understand it's just a matter of finding the right wire and grounding it (on the diesel trans anayway) not sure on the 545 though

You can trigger it manually but the tcm may go into limp and may not

I believe you will have to power it up not just ground it really doesn't matter though the mds is also related to eng load if its to much it doesn't matter if converter locked or not

Heading down hills it should use mds naturally going up the load will exceed the limit and mds will turn off for the power to climb the hill
