Clutch upgrade mod

I've been having a devil of a time finding an upgraded clutch to fit my 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 with the G56 6 speed manual. The problem is the 5.7L/G56 combination was only offered for 3 or 4 years: 2006, 2007 and 2008 2009?. Unsure of '09. So there aren't a whole heck of a lot of these trucks out there and demand isn't very high for a performance clutch. Come to find out that the input shaft for the Hemi G56 is smaller than the Cummins G56 and the diesels have a much larger flywheel so nothing from the diesel industry will work. I emailed South Bend and they don't make a clutch for my application. Peter from South Bend was super awesome though and still tried to help by referring me to McLeod Racing so he deserves a shout out for that I emailed McLeod Racing and initially they said they don't make a clutch for my application either. I did some research and found out that the do make a clutch that should fit my input shaft. It's supposed to be for a 2011-2012 Challenger. My input shaft measures 1 1/8" and has a 10 tooth spline so it should work. Might have to change flywheels and possibly a starter but I don't see why it wouldn't work. I emailed them back to see if they thought it might work.

Here's what I'm looking at for my summer bonus purchase RST CLUTCH PNS

Is there anyone else out there that might be able to help me that I could talk to? Thanks!

That setup looks stout, but what would it take to use the diesel input shaft and just stick with the diesel clutch that you know is built for heavy lifting.... in cost would be the determining factor I would think. Also a heavier flywheel I would think help wit pulling.. Don't really know though.

You have to gut the whole transmission to pull the G56 input shaft out, want to avoid that if possible. Also my clutch is 11 3/8" and the diesel is 13"....BIG difference. I would have to have a bell housing made to fit that flywheel, normal starter locations for different hemi vehicle applications wouldn't work.....basically that option is a no-go. I'd also be concerned with diesel clutches turning higher RPMs.....

Thanks, I've been about 2 weeks at it trying to find something lol Next week I'm going to start searching for different manufacturers and vendors for the 2011-2012 Challenger application to see what I can come up with pricing wise. Maybe I can find one that's good for 600-650 hp that's more economical. The 800 rating is probably overkill but I also don't want to have to do it twice lol

My 86,000 mile stocker hasn't let go yet but it's got a "feel" about it that it can't handle any more mods without slipping a crap ton. I want to get the new clutch around and then start modding for power to see what it takes to make it fail Hopefully I can get one bought this summer and try to smoke the stocker next summer

Did find out that if I have to replace it in a pinch Advanced Auto has an oem replacement for $260 which, plus an afternoon of my time, isn't that bad

Availability is very important. One of the issues I had with the Megasquirt setup, no one carried spares....

Yeah, McLeod Racing is in Texas. I have no problems paying for shipping or them being that far away but I wouldn't mind seeing what else is out there. They were pretty quick to respond to my email inquiry which is always a good sign

If it is the same folks I'm remembering, McLeod Racing has been around for a long time.
