I am going to do my U-joints, and rear output shaft seal on my 545rfe. I was also thinking about tackling the pinion seal while the driveshaft was out.
Is there any pointers that you guys can give me? Especially on the pinion seal.
Assuming you are changing only the seal and not replacing the pinion bearings. Mark the the nut and count the turns to remove. Replace the seal and install the nut using loktite.
I am not doing anything but the seals. I have a slight splatter on my bed, but no drips. It's just a hold over until I can get the rear end rebuilt, and since I was going to be that far in I figured I would replace the seal. Hopefully my yoke is still good.
