727?

anybody know if a torque converter from a 727 b/rb trans will work in a 727 la ,my bro gave my daughter his old truck it has a 3500 stall and im gonna put a stock one in it and i got a new one laying around from my other truck when i built it.

also why im changing it is because im pulling the hopped up 318 and putting a stock 5.9 in it (would do a hemi but i got a fresh 5.9 for a dokota build i never did)

I don't know the designations, but there is an early 727 3spd up to mid 90. And then the 727 got a lockup converter and shortly afterwards the 727 got the od unit added and became the A518. If you are building it, I would recommend using the A518 for mileage and better cruise. I believe the A518 used the same lockup converter up to 2002. Nice looking truck...

I know it's a bit late but for the record both standard big and small block 727's use the same converter.
Lockup 727s that's if you can find a ultra rare Big block lockup, can swap with each other also but not with non lockups.
904/999 converters will NOT swap into 727s and 727s will not fit 904/999s front pumps are different.

If I was building a all out drag truck I'd use a a 727. But with that said my old 12v uses one without issues. It is in need of service, but still hanging in there..
