Does anyone have a good idea of the power limits for the 545RFE? I want to build my engine up, but don't want to leave the transmission until I have to fix it. Same with the transfer case...

Anyone know the limits for the Sharadon Stage III tranny?

The auto trans isn't that strong at all. A couple of things that can help. 456 gears and a Sonex Line Pressure Booster.

The gears will take some of the load off the trans. You'll get more HP/TQ for towing. Better passing gears. Better gas mileage in town. This was one of the best mods that I've done to my truck. You might need 488 gears maybe. Due to the size tires and set-up that you have.

The Sonex Line Pressure Booster will fool the trans and raise the line pressure a little. That will make the clutches last longer.

The Sharadon stage III trans is mainly for the track. That's where it shines. It drives fine for the street. On some trucks, it's great on the street. Others, not so good. But, one thing is for sure. It hauls a$$ on the track. Down shifting into 3rd.

Better to leave it till when/if it dies or almost dies.
the stock trans can handle quite a bit of straight line power in a 3rd gen. Not so much if you WOT downshifts or wot shifts into 4th gear. If they die it's more likely do from street abuse than running down a drag strip. The sharadon's are certainly not known for longevity esp on the street. Today the ATS seems to be holding up better and has a warranty but who knows what will be best when / if you actually need one.
As far as the stock trans goes I've put a ton of passes on mine and never smoked the trans.
(knock on wood)
I'd estimate I put 450-500+ down to the wheels.
I run a transgo shift kit, resistor for slight line pressure increase, 4.56 gears, APS2600 TC but generally race on 29" tires and drive on 32" tires.
