I had some fun today in the rain out on some trails, nothing too extreme, just some messing around. Now i have a whine (metalic whine) when turning left. It get louder when i go faster and the more i turn left. It goes away when i apply the brakes (hard or slowly). I does it ever so slightly here and there when moving slow.
Anyone have any ideas? I got up underneath and didnt see anything out of the ordinary. It is not a PS pump issue. Truck is a '11 RCSB 4x4.
Here is some more troubleshooting. Went out today and drive to the car wash with no noise. Washed the truck and drove off. About 5 miles down the road (stop and go traffic at about 40ish) the noise came back when turning left, just ever so slightly though. Then it got worse and also a squeeky break noise came into play here and there when going straight (no brakes applied). I drove home, backed up, then took off again and the noise was gone till about 2 miles into it then the noise came back. I pulled into the driveway and jacked up the front. Spun both wheels with no noise, did the same to the back and still no noise.
Also for S&G's i checked both fronts for wheel bearong play and they were both solid.
power steering pump maybe? i lost mine doing donuts in my old 08, worked fine and sounded normal with the rpms up....on idle or trying to park it whined bad and had no power steering. put in neutral rev it up, turn , back into gear and repeat lol.
Its not the PS pump, doesnt matter with rpm, just gets a wee bit louder with speed. On the drive home from work today, it didnt make the noise at all. Ill check the dust sheild tomorrow when i wake up, if not that then im thinking maybe from wheelin the brake pad grease may have been washed out?
