I just need to vent a little here cause I can't hold it in any longer. I have been dreading this for a long time. But the time has finally come.

17 years ago next month, I brought home the prettiest, cuddly, white shepard/husky mix pup that I had ever seen, for my Son Kevin to grow up with. We lived just outside of Buffalo NY at the time. Kevin was only 4 months old but King took to him right away. He was like a 4 legged babysitter for us. He got to be too big to live in the house so outdoors became his home. I got him an igloo doghouse to help with the brutal winters up there. But the only time he would use it, was if it was raining. In the nastiest blizzards he would lie in a snow bank facing the wind and watching. For what I knever did find out. After being outside for awhile, he would fight you if you tried to get him indoors to warm up.

King love to run. so living in the country was perfect for him to pull Kevin & (Scott later) on a sled down the road and back. He also liked to escape and run free until I came home and had too look for him. But he could recognize the sound of whatever I was driving and as soon as I saw him running it was stop, and open the door, because his second greatest thing he liked to do was go for a ride. I better fast forward to the current time or you will be reading a novel before long.

After moving to Florida King did a complete 180. Now the only time he went outside was when nature called. When the ex & I split I let her keep him as that was where the kids lived. I was able to visit with him though. He always was healthy but this past year his arthritis has gotten real bad and I knew this day was rapidly approaching.

I last saw him on July 17th, and Scott had to carry him down the steps to me. It damn near killed me to see that dog in so much pain and not be able to do anything to help him. I told the boys it was time too let him go.

Their Mother called 2 hrs ago and said he was on the way to the vet so he could start on his well deserved rest. I know it's the only thing to do but God it hurts so much.

King, you were the best friend, pal, watchdog, partner, that any person could ever hope for. It's time to let your physical being go, but the memories will stay in our hearts until we meet again someday. We Will Miss You.

Run King Run!!!

from me... from Kevin... from Scott... from SandyDog... from Kathy & Frankie... from everyone else whose life you touched

My friend, I feel the pain you are experiencing. I have had to do this and it's not easy. My prayers are with you all

It hurts like Hell... been there too many times

Try to concentrate on the great memories until the pain passes - and remember that King is now without pain and free to run around as he wishes.

So sorry for your loss. We lost two this year and our beloved Rottie 2 yrs ago. Remember the good times you spent with him and keep him forever in your heart.
