My oe infinity 6 cd changer **** the bed on me. I am looking into an aftermarket unit because I am not able to find the exact oem part number. If I went aftermarket would I still be able to use the controls behind the steering wheel? If our stereo and electronics guru is still on sight HELP ME PLEASE!!!

yes you can, there is a wired adapter for selected Alpine and Kenwood head units and also infrared adapters for other brands, do a little research and you will find them

Car toys was having a huge tent sale/install event this weekend next to my house. I bought a Kenwood KDC-X592 CD receiver. I had to buy an adaptor for the wiring harness, the antenna, steering wheel controls and an adaptor for the factory amp. The CD player was the cheap part! I had them install it and I am glad I did. Anyhoo, it is a huge improvement over the infinity unit from the factory.
