New Trucks with WiFi

It seems like a cool feature, and I would use it, too just because it's there. But what does it ultimately accomplish? You're not using cellular data on the phone/laptop, but you're still paying for data from the uConnect. Or at least I'm assuming there's some kind of subscription fee. It won't be any faster, because it's going to be bottlenecked by the uConnect cellular data speed/limits. Again, I'm not really knocking it, and I would use it if I had it, but it's one of those things I don't really see a benefit from.

As I understand it the newer vehicles all are connected anyway, so I guess this is just allowing passengers to access the link that is already there. Still believe it won't be long before we will be writing our own tickets.

There probably isn't much benefit. There must be a subscription/monthly charge. Pretty much every wireless cellular data device has a pretty steep rate. Is it 4G? If so, at least you'll get some decent productivity from it.

Ah...if there's no subscription with that fancy uConnect stuff and its just included with the purchase, that is pretty nice of Ram.

That's what I was thinking...that would be a pretty cool free feature.

Maybe there's a "free" introductory subscription, like with satellite service?

There is a fee to use the wifi option, it has a daily rate, weekly rate as well as a monthly rate. I think the weekly rate is $19 and the daily rate is $11, but not 100% sure on that.

I can se a benefit of it on a family trip or a jobsite where several people have to be connected to access info. It is on the sprint network.

Take a look at available Uconnect® Web+ by Mopar®, which turns your car into a mobile hotspot with WiFi connectivity. It provides complete access to email, websites and music, multiple device connectivity and a range of 150 feet from the vehicle.
Ask for directions to a certain address or make a call without taking your hands off the wheel or eyes off the road. It's easy to stay connected while you drive. Access a favorite playlist on your MP3 player or USB drive with simple voice commands. Enjoy SiriusXM Satellite Radio+ programming in rich sound. Uconnect® brings it all to you.
  • Get travel guidance, fuel prices, movie times and locate points of interest with available SiriusXM Travel Link™ through the available Uconnect Navigation system
  • Pair your Bluetooth®-compatible phones with your Uconnect system
  • If equipped, use the USB port to play and transfer files to your Uconnect system hard drive

Connection prices start at $14.99 for daily connectivity. The weekly rate is $29.99, while a monthly connection is $49.99.
I like all the features that this things allows for free but unless I was retired and traveling or using this as a company truck I can't see paying a montly fee on top of what i pay for our phones which can do the same

Yeah, I don't think I could justify $50 a month. That's pretty steep.
