MOPAR Remote Start for 2005 QC 1500

I have found on a mopar site a remote start and kit for my 2005 QC Hemi, but when I asked the dealer about one they said they do not make one yet. Did I ask for the wrong thing? Is it difficult to install, or cold I do it myself if i bought the remote start and installation kit from mopar.com?

Howdy. I'm not able to answer your questions but we have another member who owns 3rd Strike Performance and I know he has the OEM remote start kit for the '04-'05.

His name is Duane and member name is semo03hemiram. He could probably answer your questions easily if you want to PM him.

Here's a link to his store and specifically his remote start kits.

PM Jamesd he works at a dodge dealership. I had an aftermarket remote start/doorlock installed 450.00 with eerything. The extra cost was for matching the remote to the doorlocks.

Thank you all for your responses. I will check out 3rd Strike, looks like he has a lot. Anyone know if I can easily install the kit myself? I have done many custom car stereo installations.

The Mopar remote start for your truck requires you to splice into a coil wire, the brake switch wire and the headlight wire. The rest plugs into existing harnesses. Not sure what your dealer is smoking, but they have been available for our trucks since late 2003.

82208859AB Remote Start Module Kit contains the base electronics module for under-dash mounting and a complete fuse kit. For complete system, also order vehicle specific installation kit. Cannot be used on vehicles with Mopar Security Systems. $102.00

82208863AG Remote Start, Installation Kits Install kit includes harness, long-range antenna, key interface, software, two keyfobs and install and operating instructions. For complete system, order module kit (82208859AB). $199.00

Those are MSRP, but I'm sure you can get them cheaper from Art at Henson Motors or maybe Duane from 3rd Strike.

The foglights are part of the parking light circuit. The only way you can get them to not come on when you remote start is to turn them off before you shut the truck off. Then, when you remote start, they won't come on.

Problem with that it, you'll have to remember to turn them back on when you want them.

But, there may be a way with an aftermarket starter. Does your starter provide either a positive or negative output from a separate wire while under remote start? If so, you could put a relay inline with the foglight power (after the truck switch) and connect it normally-closed. Then, when you remote start, the starter supplies voltage to the relay and opens the circuit cutting the fogs off.

You mean, turn them "on"?

I know that if I turn on my fogs before I shut off the truck,, then I arm the alarm, the fogs go out, and do not come on when I remote start.

Oh ,,hell maybe I'll just gank the wire that feeds the parking circuit,,and do away with the lights altogether
