Are train horns on trucks too much?

Ok - disclaimer, I found these stupid mean videos on Youtube where guys are driving around scaring people with train horns that they installed on their trucks . I think that's dumb and would never do it, but Wow! Were those horns cool.

Ever since I was a kid (doesn't seem that long ago actually) I loved hearing truck drivers blast their horns. Turns out you can actually install these in just about anything. There was even a video where a guy puts one on his moped - compressor tank and all.

Is putting a train horn on your tuck stupid? I'm just curious. Also, does anyone know what the laws are? Are they illegal? I cannot imagine a cop would let the guys pranking people with them off the hook. They would get a ticket at the very least.

Don't know about the laws but I put a horn blaster set up in my truck. Loud as hell. Its got a 2 gallon tank and compressor in the bed. It sure wakes up people going to slow in front of you. I will set off the alarm once in a while when someone I know walks past the truck.

haha! That's funny setting a trap from your friends. Two gallons in the bed? That would probably work. Pretty sure that wouldn't fit under my hood.

I'm broke until my next paycheck anyway, but this is something I think I would like to get.

IMO, train horns are too much and tickets can be issued for distracting lights or excessive noise. I use a 139db boat horn. But with that said a train horn connected to the vehicle's alarm system would be interesting....

...somebody on here either did or had plans to use train horns...can't remember who (CRS). I thought Keith talked about it and maybe the guy that goes by weedahoe might have them...just not sure.

train horns

I was dinking around on the web and found this crazy post on a train horn site about destroying enemies with sound.

It's pretty funny - there is some deranged picture of Thomas the train and apparently the sound of a whale's call can collapse a person's lungs haha! That's crazy if it's true. Guess train horns just ruin hearing.

I have had the K3LA train horn kit on my truck my 2006,2003 and very soon the 2012. It is run by two comp and a 200psi valve. The horn registers 164db at 200psi. It's on a double poll switch one way I'd regular horn other is train this way I can have it right on the stock horn button. They are fun but deff need to be used with caution I mainly used mine for spooking people from a short distance never right next to the truck it is way to loud. YouTube k3la hornblasters kit that's the setuo I have insane. I will post a video once mine is going again lol
