2003 Replacement Opinions

I am looking to replace the stereo in my Ram and would appreciate any experienced advice. I'm not looking for a serious system, just a good quality that fits the dimensions well.

I have an IPhone, so I would like the bluetooth feature and have it IPhone compatible for hands free use. I'm also interested in a good caddy for the phone that looks and fits well. I am going to upgrade the speakers, but I don't need a ton of power. A larger media screen would be nice if there are any that fit.

I put a JVC KD-AR780 receiver and a CH-X1500 changer in mine. The receiver is Bluetooth "compatible". Apparently, JVC is out of the car audio business. Too bad.

Whatever you choose, MAKE SURE you spend the extra money on a proper faceplate and wiring harness. The few extra dollars will be well worth it.

I have a JVC unit in my truck and it works and sounds great. Full Bluetooth for calls and playing music from my iPhone with no wires needed, custom colors on the face so it matches the yellow center piece of my rumble bees dash. It's single DIN so there is no need to cut up the center or buy a double DIN bezel. Here is a link to it: JVC Mobile Entertainment \ Bluetooth CD/USB Receiver - KD-R950BT \ Introduction

Crutchfield: Car Stereo, Speakers, Home Theater, LED LCD TV, Cameras should help narrow down what fits. If you have an infinity system in it there are a few more things needed.

Be careful with Crutchfield - their information isn't the most accurate. They may still be claiming the Ram's front doors use 6 1/2" round speakers

I tried the bluetooth iphone to car stereo option, it worked great for calls but music it often 'stuttered' so I went a different route. I got a cable AUX/charger to the original apple charging port (lightning or whatever they call it now), aux goes to the aux port in your stereo, charger goes to a 12v power source. That way when plugged in you have crystal clear music through hardwire, phonecalls via bluetooth and to top it off your phone is charging, which is always nice with an iphone!!

The bluetooth option always works, so if you just hop in your truck, the phone function will work, only needs to be plugged in for hardwire music/charging.

I don't even have a nav system anymore in my truck, always use the iphone's nav, something which isn't practical imo when the phone is not charging since the satnav eats iphone battery very fast.

Holder is brodit brand and stuck on whit double sided tape.

No drilling or anything required, this is on an 03.

Speaker for the carphone through the stereo.

They say 6x9's are in there and 6 1/2" will fit with an adapter. How difficult would it be to put a 6 1/2" or 8" sub in the door? I haven't looked around for a 6x9 sub yet. I was planning on putting 6 1/2's in all doors. Maybe a decent pair of separates in the rear

I can't believe how inexpensive stereo equipment is now. There is a Blaupunkt on Crutchfield, touch media screen, fully loaded for $429.00. How reliable is their customer service in regard to technical help? The description says I need to modify the sub dash, has anyone done that?

I will go with that Blaupunkt in a heartbeat if it can truly fit.

A very nice double din replacement for the 02-05 dash bezel...

The carbon fiber is pretty cool and they have some other options as well.
