Have an 03 ram 2500. Was told only 03 or 04 "D" Vin motors will work Is there anyway to get an 06 motor to work?

like every other motor I have seen go bad,at 104,000 mine rod bearing went bad and the piston went up and hit the head.dented the head and mushroomed the top of the piston which destroyed the bore. I cannot find a replacement in the year range I was told would work.

Welcome to the Club.
You should not have any trouble putting an '06 engine in.

Re-post this question and introduce yourself at the "First Time Here" section for more insight to your engine swap.

Sorry to hear about your motor Jackedup2500. An 06 will work just fine.

And by the way, Welcome to the Hemi Truck Club.

To insure connection compatibility, I would use the 03 intake, and valve cover/coil packs. You may need to use the 03 cam, and crank sensors, if the connection is different. Don't know if this is needed or not, but I block the EGR hole, in the front of the pass. side head.

I'm missing something here. It is common to overbore a cylinder for over size pistons, why not just rebuild the 03 engine? The bigger issue I believe would be the different crankshaft tone rings between the 03-06. I use 06 ignition coils on my 03, but your wiring harness would need the newer connectors. I suspect if you don't connect the MDS it stays de-active. Not sure but would think it would work that way. Welcome.

I have a 2003 2500 and when we got it the same thing was wrong rear rid knock and a spun cam bearing I swapped it out with my 2005 eng in my other truck and had the 03 built for my 05 I used the 03 intake and coils and all sensors on the 05 motor in the 03 truck and it runs perfectly fine 06 should be the same

Only issue I have heard of and run into one time at work is the crankshaft on the factory car hemi eng has a smaller torque converter hole the spot where the round snout end is on the converter won't fit because the trucks use a 545 trans and the converter is diff than the nag one not all of them Are like that but it would be a bummer to find out it won't work when all you have left is trans install I guess you could just dremmel the whole bugger but not sug I would Deff try and find a hemi from a truck
