My thanks also for the great article. I was apprehensive about changing my wires and sparks plugs after reading the many posts here. I was really dreading the last two plugs on the drivers side, but found these to be easier than the last one on the passengers side. I am right handed and trying to keep the heater hoses out of the way and working around the air conditioning plumbing was a real PITA. When I reached the drivers side, I had an idea.

What worked for me on the last four plugs on the drivers side was attaching a 1/2" universal joint to the spark plug socket followed by a 3" extension bar. I was able to basically steer the socket right into the valve cover and down to the spark plug. With the spark plug socket, universal joint and 3" extension firmly on the plug, there was plenty of room to attach the socket wrench. I used extreme caution when loosening and tightening the plugs because of the universal joint. Inserting and tightening these four plugs was a piece of cake. And here I had been dreading these plugs.

Now for the new chrome valve covers. Drivers side looks easiers than the passengers side. Wish me luck.

I just wanted to say thanks as well. I just did mine, and it was a huge PITA, but I had a huge sense of accomplishment when done. Thanks for the tips in your write up.

I just ordered my Taylor shorty wire kit and new plugs from 3rd Strike. I've changed plugs and wires on about every GM motor there is I think but have been dreading this one for a while, thanks for the great write up, looks like it will help a lot! Doing this the same day as brakes and K&N intake so it will be a busy but productive day (I hope)

Az 04 Hemi,
good tech article!

some people have found it easier to get out the rear driver's side plugs by removing the driver's side front tire and the driver's side front wheel-well liner. don't have to balance on top of the engine that way, and you have good access to the rear of the engine.

also, there is double typing on the phrase "while your there be sure to pick up some anti-seize compound for plugs." it is hard to read.
